The Yellow Birds, by Kevin Powers, does neither of these things Instead, the book is meant to convey the harsh reality of war and how it affects soldiers both while at war and at home. ![]() When I think of successful war novels, I tend to think of stories of epic heroism on the part of soldiers fighting to defend our country Furthermore, I would expect the majority of the book to take place in war, taking the reader through heroic battles that would turn the tide of the war. ![]()
